Russian exports of fish and seafood has reached 1.5 million tons, while imports totaled 2.5 million tons

In 2011 the fish and seafood capture increased by 5% compared with 2010 and amounted 4.2 million tons. A similar rate of growth was noted in the production of fish and processed fish products - by 5% reaching 3.6 million tons.

Exports in 2011 rose by 8% up to 1.5 million tons. The leading importers of Russian products are China and Korea. Positive growth was marked for each country. In 2011 fish and seafood was sent in China by 9% more (844.4 thousand tons) than in 2010, in Korea – by 14% more (540.3 thousand tons).

Due to the low levels of Alaska pollock capture in 2011 the rate of exports has decreased by 3% compared to 2010, the volume of supplies totaled 864.8 thousand tons. Alaska pollock is the main exported product. In the second place is herring. In this position the exports following the increase of the capture in 2011 has increased by 63% for the year (186.7 thousand tons in 2011), for the same reason, the supply of salmon in other countries has increased – in 3 times relative to the previous year (103.5 thousand tons). The positive dynamics for cod was 1% (68.3 thousand tons).

The highest growth rate for the year was noted in the import - by 23%. Russia imported total 2.5 million tons of fish and seafood. It is worthwhile noting that the big part of products still has Russian origin, but it was sent abroad for processing. The volume of such products in 2011 amounted 1 832.9 thousand tons, while in 2010 this figure was by 63% lower. At that the import of Norwegian production fell by 24% compared to 2010 (up to 289.6 thousand tons). Alaska pollock is still at the heart of imports - in 2011 the volume of Alaska pollock supplies from other countries amounted 829.6 thousand tons compared to 380.5 thousand tons.

According to the Center of Public Relations of the Federal Agency for Fishery, summarizing the results of the 5 weeks of 2012 the aquatic bioresources capture by the Russian fishing organizations amounted 376.6 thousand tons, that is by 9.3 thousand tons or by 2.5% more than in the last year. At the same time, the volume of production of fish totaled 205.2 thousand tons, 179.1 thousand tons of which is the share of the Far East basin.

According to the results of the 5 weeks of this year, the production of canned and preserved fish and seafood amounted 2.2 million cans. The biggest part is the share of the Far Eastern Federal District - 1.9 mln. cans. Production figures in the North Basin totaled 258.5 thousand cans, in the Western Basin - 8.5 thousand cans.

According to the portal Fishretail on the fifth week of 2012 in Moscow the wholesale prices for fish products have changed in the following way. Negative dynamics was noted for the following products: hake trunk – by 2% per week up to the level of 104.8 rubles / kg, squid trunk – by 1% up to 135.4 rubles / kg. The price list for herring (trunk 300-350 +) changed little, at the end of the week the reduction totaled only 0.1% up to 60.6 rubles / kg. The maximum positive growth at the level of 2 % was observed for Alaska pollock and cod - up to 63.8 rubles / kg and 99.3 rubles / kg.

Hunchback salmon rose in price by 1% up to 79.0 rubles / kg for one week. Perch (200-500+) and Pollack rose in price only by 0.3% (up to 182.3 rubles/kg) and by 0.1% (89.6 rubles/kg), respectively.

The negative growth in St. Petersburg on the 5th week of 2012 was observed for: perch (200-500+)- by 1% and Pollack - up to 177.0 rubles / kg and 90.6 rubles / kg, and herring - only by 0, 4% (trunk 300-350 +) up to 57.4 rubles / kg. The highest rate of growth according to the week’s results was marked for salmon and cod – by 0.4% up to 76.8 rubles / kg and 105.0 rubles / kg, respectively. The trunk of squid rose in price by 0.3% up to 135.9 rubles / kg, Alaska pollock and hake trunk - by 0.2% up to 65.0 rubles / kg and 101.9 rubles/ kg, respectively.
